Biography

Portrait de Mychel Blanc

Mychel Blanc was born in 1946 in Annecy, France. .

After a degree in micro-mechanism and different professional experiences, Mychel became florist and ran his shop for thirty years. In parallel he was assuaging his passion for painting, at first in black and white then came the colourful acrylics including bold puzzle shapes with invariably an odd and energetic writing.

Today, Mychel Blanc is retired from his flower shop and spends much of this time elaborating his new style. The puzzle shapes have disappeared to give place to an extraordinary work of lettering he titled "Ideotext". Mychel conceives his artwork as a book without cover, a writing without words. The artist has created a new language, a "world language" just as there is a "World Music" where one can find Calligraphy, Ideogram or Latin letters.

If it is true that ones writing reveals the personality, Mychel is a complex man with many things left unsaid which come out on his art. The typography is blurred as if the words were censured. Meaningless at first sight and yet with real hidden words.

... from this revolution of letters and figures without obvious connection comes an almost universal harmony to light.
