Acrylic painting by Mychel Blanc

Painter, Mychel Blanc plays with evey languages. He spells words, modifies letters from every alphabet according to his will and does the same with figures. From this direct creation and the chaos of the original thought appear shapes that the artist copies out and puts in place. M. Blanc’s artistic process focuses on automatism – cherished by the surrealists – that looks like personal and colourful jigsaws. The result is a contemporary & busy aestheticism. While describing these writings and drawings closely linked to Maya, Inca, Etruscan and Arabic cultures, it could evocate an eccentric, precise or even fanciful ideography. Or isn’t it simply the creation of a universal language, multi-cultural, caught between the past and the present?

“At the crossroads of the ‘rough Art’ of Gaston Chaissac and the graphism of Keith Haring, works of M. Blanc are enigmatic and fascinating at the same time. His abstract paintings are colourful while the background is full of interlacings. It is a kind of writing that comes from ‘elsewhere’ crowded with strange creatures and intertwined shapes. The artist himself controls the style but not entirely the meaning.”

... from this revolution of letters and figures without obvious connection comes an almost universal harmony to light.
